Video memory Reply to this post

Hi, guys!

It came to my attention that you are using video memory chips: WD24512A.
Here's the link to all specs...
http://www.winbond-usa.com/products/winbond_products/pdfs/Memory/w24512a.pdf

I compared the pin layout for another product of winbond...
WD24i010a Here's the link too....

http://www.winbond-usa.com/products/winbond_products/pdfs/Memory/w24l010a.pdf

All these chips have the same layout except for pin1 (additional address line).

A very nice feature is that the latter one has more memory (128K!!!)

My question will be then why can't you use these chips for video memory on Sprinter board. Don't you think more memory would give additional resolutions and more pallet without pain in the ass. (I forgot to mention 10ns access time!!!) Just imagine, guys... Chips ARE ALMOST the same the VCC can be adjusted to nominal 3.3V and additional A16 signal can be added too...

Thank you for the links.
These chips are different and mainboard will need too much changes for usage w24l010a. We have not any plans to change modern mainboard Sp2000.
But we will creating the new mainboard in future. You can send your suggestions.
