Sprinter and SVGA monitors
|
| |
I'm glad to read the design of a solution to make the Sprinter use a SVGA monitor is on its way. To be honest, I haven't still managed to make my Sprinter work on my RGB monitor... I was kindly adviced to make some modifications to the video cable but I'm afraid to do something wrong and to destroy my monitor :)
When can we expect this device to be available? And could you give us more information about it? Is it like a real graphic card or more like the scandoublers existing on the Amiga?

Yeah, SVGA monitors are the most popular and it's the easiest to get them.

VGA-convertor will be available during two monthes. Full list of features will be published only after finishing a test of this card. Today we can say about support of 60-100Hz monitors frequence. And we hope to support VESA Display Data Channel. It is a method for integrating digital interface to VGA conenctor to be able the monitor and grapahics card to communicate.
It's all todays information about VGA -convertor.

Sounds like a more advanced device than a regular scandoubler. I will be looking forward to seeing what the final hardware will look like. Can you give any information on if it will be an internal or external device? There is very little space left in my sprinter box.

VGA convertor is an internal device. It will be set to ISA slot.

That was what i was afraid of. My tiny AT chassi is a bit too small to fit the ISA cards properly. It's got one of those adapter cards to fit the ISA slots sideways, but the Sprinter ISA slots are located in the wrong place to use that. Perhaps i could build an adaptor with a short ribbon cable connecting to the ISA port instead. Ah well... =)

I'll have to put some pictures of it online sometime then. I just have to remove all the Hello Kitty stickers from it first. =)
Actually, the storekeeper in the shop i bought the box said he had a lot of those mini standard AT cases in stock, so they're probably still available. It cost around 20 euro. One bad thing about them, is that while it does have 3 isa slots, they need an adaptor card, that doesn't quite fit on the sprinter mainboard. If anybody is interested, i could find out the shop's email adress and ask them about the cases.

I haven't decided to buy a Sprinter or not (especially since it keeps getting better all the time), but I'm considering using a small TV with a SCART connector, but I still haven't been able to find out if the Sprinter comes with a wide SCART or the small, round EuroConnector.
