Modem ISA 14400 Reply to this post

I have read in the Online Order who is avaible a Modem ISA for the Sprinter. I think is for the use with Black Terminal program...
It's possible use a Standard ISA modem ?? If Yes at wich IRQ and adress ?? if this is possibile then it's ok also put a ISA serial port (with the correct IRQ and ADR) and a esternal modem or a null cable to a PC...

Yes, Sprinter can use a standard ISA (internal) modem. Black Cat Terminal not need setup of IRQ. If your modem has DIPs, to switch it in COM1.

Re: Modem ISA 14400 new [re: Alex_Goryachev]Reply to this post

I read somewhere that internal ISA modems have similar operation to com port expansion cards. Would it also possible using an isa com port expansion card if i wanted to use a null modem cable or other rs232 peripherals?

PC<->Sprinter connection new [re: polardark]Reply to this post

We haven't ISA Com port expansion card and can't check this variant.
But we have plan to create PC<->Sprinter connection cable using LPT port, with software support, certainly.
I hope it will be done in summer.

I have put the card in the first slot (that more far away from the processor...)

But if you tests without modem and card the program

Re: Modem ISA 14400 new [re: davidebarlotti]Reply to this post

Try to put modem in another slot.
Programm can start without connected modem. In this case you will see message "Modem not found!!!"

Re: Modem ISA 14400 new [re: Alex_Goryachev]Reply to this post

Hi,
I have made other tests with the modem after to have resolved the problems of the FDDonly some FD no good..).
Also in my Sprinter appears the message MODEM NON FOUND!!! PRESS ANY KET TO CONTINUE
(BTW. if I press any key don't continue but the system is'n hang because I hear the sound from audio when press the key...)
I have try With a ISA MODEM setting:
COM1 IRQ4
COM2 IRQ3
COM3 IRQ4
COM4 IRQ3
and in slot1 and slot2.
The modem is correctly powered from the bus because when
I reset the system I hear "click" from the internal speaker of the modem.
Other tips???
I try however the modem in a PC in order to assure that it is working.

Hi,
I don't know the name but has two big chip Rockwell:
- RCV288DPI R6682-24 ROCKWELL 95
- L39/U L3903-57 ROCKWELL 93
I think is a 28.8 BPS.

Re: Modem ISA 14400 new [re: davidebarlotti]Reply to this post

We did not test BCT with your model of modem (- RCV288DPI R6682-24 ROCKWELL 95 ).
We found ISA modem with RC144DPI R6645-20 ROCKWELL 93 chip. BCT work excellent.
We contacted author of BCT and we have information now about possibility of troubles with some modems. BCT can't identify some modems, yes.
We will publish list of tested modems.
And BCT need update and it will be done during several monthes.

The Sprinter computer need a new software for possibility of usage these features. Step by step, Sprinter will has more and more new features. Now Sprinter has several useful developers tools, and a lot of secrets of Sprinter programming were published. We know, several programs are coming soon. But software for Internet is a task of the next year only. We have a real plan.

Re: Modem ISA 14400 new [re: Alex_Goryachev]Reply to this post

I actually have a (very, very limited) text web browser for the Z88. It's written in CamelForth and either views a local file, or a web-page using Dominic Morris' ZSock for the Z88. If a TCP/IP stack was ported across, the browser would certainly follow!

Thanks Garry. I hope we will found a way for porting TCP/IP stack in not so long time.
